A Message from Superintendent Nora Gutierrez Dear Tolleson Union High School District Community, I am grateful to our students and parents for your support and patience as we work together virtually with a united focus on academic achievement. I know that we would all prefer to have our wonderful students in class, in front of their teachers, Monday through Friday, every week. Unfortunately, that is not possible at this time. The bonds and connections that our staff has with students are important. We miss seeing our students in person and are looking forward to the time when our students can safely return to their campuses. We will move forward with in-person learning when it is safe for us to do so. The same goes for athletics. We want to protect the health and safety of our students during this pandemic, and that is what our parents and community expect from us. When you entrust your students to our care for whatever time they spend on-campus with us, we will always do what is in the best interest of students and their health. As always, we will be sure to communicate with you in a timely manner if anything changes with the current learning environment. I want to celebrate TUHSD teacher mentors, Elizabeth Sgrillo and Jesse Delgado. They were both featured in K–12 resources highlighting mentoring and the impact that mentorship has on teacher retention and student achievement. Ms. Sgrillo said it was a great opportunity to reflect and share their experiences. Ms. Sgrillo and Mr. Delgado are just two of the many great people we have in our district. I don’t have to tell you that we are all in this together and that together, we can beat COVID-19 by following and practicing the guidelines put forth by the Centers for Disease Control. For more information on proper safety protocols, please visit the CDC website and share the information with your family members. We continue to thank you for your patience through all of this; we certainly appreciate it. This is a tough time for everyone. So that we can communicate important information and updates with you more easily, please be sure that we have the most accurate information for you, including updated contact phone numbers and email addresses, at your child’s school.
